Driveway and Road Base Preparation, explained.
What you drive on is only the top. Underneath, a driveway needs a stable subgrade, a layer of crushed stone and the right slope and drainage. When those are skipped, gravel washes out, asphalt cracks and concrete heaves or settles.
We strip the topsoil, cut and fill to shape the driveway, proof-roll and fix soft spots, place and compact crushed stone and set the drainage with culverts and side ditches. We hand over a firm, crowned base ready for gravel, asphalt or concrete.

How thick should the stone base be?
It depends on soil, traffic and the surface above. We recommend a base for your conditions and use fabric where soft soil calls for it.
Can you widen or extend my existing driveway?
Yes. We tie new base into the old one, matching grades and managing drainage.
Will my driveway need a culvert?
If a ditch crosses the route, yes. We size and install it to the requirement or plan.
