Underground Electrical Conduit Trenching, explained.
Power that runs underground needs a protected path. Conduit shields the wire from soil, rock and future digging, and a well-built trench keeps depth, bends and spacing where the electrical plan needs them. The electrical work itself belongs to a qualified electrician, but the trench, the conduit run and the backfill are excavation work, and they go better when done by a crew that understands what comes next.
We dig the route, install conduit and sweeps to the layout, add pull strings and warning tape where specified and backfill so the run stays protected. We coordinate with your electrician and with the utility so the conduit lands where transformers, meters and panels expect it.
Signs this service fits
- A new service or sub-panel needs power run to an outbuilding
- Landscape, pool or driveway lighting needs buried conduit
- An EV charger or detached garage needs a conduit path
- A commercial site needs a duct bank
A good fit, and what to know.
We would rather you hear the limits from us than discover them later.
A good fit when
- You have a plan or an electrician who has specified the run
- The route is accessible to a machine or trencher
- You want the trench open only as long as it needs to be
Worth knowing
- We do not perform electrical wiring or connections
- The utility controls its own transformers, meters and service points
Why do it this way.
Right depth, right route
Cover and clearances follow the electrical plan and the utility’s needs.
Ready to pull
Smooth sweeps and pull strings save the electrician time.
Warning tape above
Marking tape warns future diggers before they reach the conduit.
Backfill that protects
Clean fill around the conduit keeps rock away from it.
From first look to finished ground.
A clear sequence for every job.
- 01
Plan with the electrician
Conduit size, number of runs, depth and stub-up points are confirmed before digging.
- 02
Trench and bed
The route is cut to depth and the bottom is prepared and bedded where the design calls for it.
- 03
Install conduit
Conduit, sweeps and fittings are assembled, stubbed up and fitted with pull strings.
- 04
Mark and close
Warning tape is placed where required, the trench is backfilled in lifts and the surface restored.

Do you pull the wire?
No. Our work is the trench and conduit. Wiring and connections are done by a licensed electrician, and we schedule around theirs.
How deep does electrical conduit go?
Depth depends on the conduit type, the voltage and the electrical code in your area. Your electrician or the plan sets it, and we dig to that.
Can conduit share a trench with a water line?
Sometimes, with the separation the code requires. We lay the route out with the plans in hand rather than guess.
